In "Representations" 119, Summer 2012. A study of the problem of perception, and in particular, of perception of the female body in Rabelais. A discussion of the implications of Rabelais's depiction of female bodies for Auerbach's account of Rabelais's "modernity," and for modern humanism more generally.
